Teams

Our Teams

Beverley Baptist Church do not currently have a minister, so our church life and activities are overseen by a number of people in different teams.

Leadership Team

The Leadership Team is to give spiritual oversight and direction to the church community and all its activities. This is achieved through prayer, discussion, discernement and careful guidance of communmity members, by directing teaching programs, worship, evangelism, and ensuring the provision of pastoral care.

The Leadership Team are the charity trustees and they have the responsibility for overseeing our financial, legal and employment responsibilities, in addition to understanding and complying with the requirements of the Charity Commission of England and Wales.

Leaders must accept, believe and endorse the church’s Statement of Faith, Charitable Aims, policies, procedures and governing document (constitution).

David (Chairperson)

David has been on the leadership team since Nov 2024 and is currently serving as chairman. He has a particular passion for prayer and worship – and can often be seen playing his guitar on Sunday mornings.

In his spare time David runs a small business, and plays Racketball and Chess (neither particularly well!).

Chris (Secretary)

Chris has been a Christian since 1992 and a member of Beverley Baptist Church since that date. He moved from the midlands to this community a little while before that to pursue his career as a Town Planner for the local authorities.

A keen runner, cyclist, the church’s resident roadie and our principal sound guy, Chris is married and has two daughters.

Stephen (Treasurer)

Stephen has been the Treasurer for nearly 20+ years and on the leadership team for more than half that time. As a qualified change manager for a heathcare company, Stephen is a process person, loves a good spreadsheet or workflow, is computer savvy and creatively seeks solutions to problems.

Equally, he’s happy doing maintenance in the church building or he’s up for a good roadtrip!

Stephen also enjoys some preaching and leading for BBC.

Tom (Retired Minister)

Tom was the first minister at Beverley Baptist Church back in the 90’s. Now, having travelled as far as Brazil and back via Watford, he has retired and returned to Beverley.

The newest member of the Leadership Team, Tom brings a great deal of experience in running a church, preaching, teaching and making Jesus known.

Supporting Staff

Laura (Church Administrator)

Laura serves as our Church Administrator, supporting the day-to-day running of the church and the centre during the week. Laura also oversees the Sunday School activities at the church. She enjoys cooking and knitting, balancing these interests with the demands of parenting a young family.

Karen (Centre Manager)

Karen is our Centre Manager – responsible for everything that goes on in the centre during the week. Away from her centre responsibilities, Karen has a passion for prayer – and all things creative. She can often be found working at the junction of the two – applying her photographic and artistic skills to whatever she is engaged in.

Karen and Laura are the first port of call when contacting BBC or TAC. They will direct any enquiry to its correct destination to ensure smooth running of the church and centre.

Anna Chaplaincy Team

At Beverley Baptist Church, we care for older people both in our Church and in the community through the work of Anna Chaplaincy. (Anna Chaplaincy is part of BRF Ministries, a national charity, and offered training and networking for those involved in older people’s ministry.) Christine Larson, is the Licensed Anna Chaplain for our Church, and she supports our work in offering spiritual support to those in later years, both in the Fellowship and in local care homes in Beverley, in partnership with Churches Together Beverley. Recently we were delighted to commission Michelle MacKay as an Anna Friend, to work alongside Christine. Staff Team

We have two staff members who work part time to keep things running during the week. Karen and Laura are the first port of call when contacting BBC or TAC. They will direct any enquiry to its correct destination to ensure smooth running of the church and centre.
